Refund Policy

MIC ensures that all tuition fees for a program or part of a program for the period for which a student has registered (less an administrative fee of maximum $500), are refunded to the student if:
a. he or she gives written notice to MIC within two days after signing a registration agreement or paying the tuition fees, that he or she rescinds the agreement; or
b. the program or part of a program is discontinued before the first day.

Plagiarism policy

It is the policy of the Management Institute of Canada to not tolerate plagiarism of any information in our courses.  Plagiarism is defined as the copying of material without giving credit to the author of the work, for example: any copying and pasting of information from the Internet that is used to answer a test question without giving credit to the author.

As a rule, no more than 20 percent of an entire paper can use information from someone other than the student. The goal is for the student to read and understand the information and then write it in his or her own words.  The consequences of plagiarism are failure of the exam and requirement of the student to take the exam again.

MBA in Media and Communications

MIC signed an agreement in March 2008 with AIBD (under United Nations - UNESCO) and Help University in Malaysia for an online MBA in Media and Communication.

QUESTIONS - ANSWERS about MIC MBA

Dear Benjamin
Thank you for your interest in the Management Institute of Canada.

Here are the answers to your questions:

I was introduced to this site by an MIC Student, a Mr. Patrick Kibe late yesterday, looking through the site, I became interested in pursuing an MBA at MIC however it only shows General MBA Program with Areas of Specialization in Management. My queries are:-

QUESTION 1)
Should I only start after finalizing the admission process? Or can I start concurrently with the admission process?

You should first email us your documents, then we send them to the Admission Committee for evaluation, and once you are admitted, you will receive an Admission Letter with all information related to your courses, the starting date of your Program and a Deadline for your payment.
As soon as we receive the first installment of your payment, you will receive a letter of welcome from our webmaster, including a Guideline for the E-Learning System, and your Username and Password, allowing you to have access to your own Webpage which will be automatically created in your name. On this page you will find all the required materials for your courses.

Every week, you should study a new chapter of your course.

QUESTION 2)
Are there other areas of specialization apart from Management? And how do I view these?

In the MBA program, you can choose an area of study in Management, Marketing and Human Resource Management. For all these areas, you will study the same courses, but you should start the Research Project from the 8th month of your MBA (after finishing 8 courses) under one of our Research Directors. Your Research Project will be oriented towards the area of study you choose.
This is just to remind you that MIC offers an MBA in Media and Communication, created together with AIBD (under UNESCO) for Asian and African countries, but the cost and structure is different from regular MBAs. To read more about this program, please see this page:
www.micanada.org/mba.htm

You can read more about the MIC MBA Program here:  MBA Student Guideline 2008 >>>

QUESTION 3)
Must I take only one course per month/semester? Or can I take as many courses as I can manage?

In the new system we have organized, you can have more courses if you wish, but the Examination Date is only at the end of each month.
You can finish your MBA sooner, if you have the aptitude, and register in (maximum) 2 courses at the same time, and take your examinations at the end of the month
.

QUESTION 4) Must I finish my studies strictly within 16 months?

The MBA we are offering is based on 12 courses and takes only 12 months. This is the new system we set up starting in September 2008.
All courses will be uploaded progressively and students can take 1 or 2 courses if they wish and even finish their MBA in a period less than 12 months. This page will give you more information on our MBA structure:
www.micanada.org/mba.htm

QUESTION 5) Does that mean that I can also finish my MBA over a longer period, like in 16 months or 2 years?

Absolutely. You can follow your own rhythm.

QUESTION 6)
How about if I interrupt my studies after a few months at MIC? What will happen with the courses I have studied?

If, for any reason, you are not able to continue your courses as planned, you can ask MIC to deliver a Course Certificate for every single course you have successfully passed

This system allows students to come back to MIC at anytime to finish their program, MBA or any other program, depending on their availability.

QUESTION 7)
How can I apply, and how long does it take to be admitted?

You should scan all the following documents and send them to us by email. Please send all of them in one attachment:

Admission Requirements

*        Resume (CV)

*        A photo

*        A copy of official transcripts of your last university degree

*        A copy of your university degrees

*        A copy of the first two pages of your passport

*        TOEFL results (at least 500, or a computer test score of 173)
(If you do not have a TOEFL result, please contact our office at:
admin@micanada.net)

As soon as we receive your full application with all the required items, it may take around one week to receive an answer from the Admission Committee.

QUESTION 6 ) How about the scholarship?

The regular tuition fee for students from overseas, offered by MCOPOP, is $8,600 US.
The
scholarship covers only a percentage of the tuition fee. (This is not a full scholarship.)
MIC scholarships cover between 30% and 45% of this amount.
If an applicant obtains the highest scholarship (45%), he or she will only be required to pay $4730 US.

I hope I have answered your questions,

Alain

More about the MIC MBA and EMBA

Global Perspective:

MIC uses the most current management and educational North American methodology. We provide a multicultural environment, where students benefit from experienced professors in teaching and management, as well as scientific and corporate research, guided by a global professional perspective. We value diversity, global thinking and international networking as sources of inspiration in both personal and business endeavors.

Montreal

Global Institute

We offer programs to applicants from Western countries and from more than 20 countries in Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and the Far East. The MIC Online program is adapted to the needs of an increasingly global world.

Why MIC MBA and EMBA online

As an executive you may lack the time to go to school full time, or even part time, in order to earn your degree. An online degree program is the best solution because of the malleable schedule it offers. You and your family will benefit from the time you devote to studying for your degree. You can be a junior executive, or the person who hires and fires.

Managerial Rigor

The MIC MBA Program brings together an experienced team of professors, consultants and experts from Canadian and European universities and industries. The character of the MIC MBA program and our experience in Executive Education is based on combining analytical rigor in management with the art of executive leadership.
